- Study the market, evaluate business prospects, and confirm oil and petroleum products to trade, including crude oil, lubricants, and refined products.
- Determine the jurisdiction for the oil and petroleum trading business set up in Dubai. Free zones such as DMCC/Hamriyah or Dubai Mainland may be considered for company formation.
- Develop a business strategy based on competitor analysis and markets.
- Register the trade name and obtain initial approval for the business setup.
- Lease an office space or opt for a virtual office, depending on the office specifications stated by the jurisdiction.
- Register with the Ministry of Energy in the Petroleum Substances Trading Register if the company will be trading in petroleum.
- Open a corporate bank account for the company.
- Complete the immigration formalities and obtain visas for the staff and investors.
- Trading license issued by the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) or the relevant Free Zone Authority
- Register in the Petroleum Products Trading Register (if applicable)
- Obtain the mandatory approval from the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy for trading in petroleum products
