The following steps are involved in setting up a film production company.
- Decide whether you’d like to start your business on the mainland or in one of the free zones in Dubai.
- Choose a trade name for your production company. Ensure it adheres to the guidelines set by the Dubai government.
- The Dubai Film and TV Commission is the governing authority for film production in Dubai. Companies need to obtain a permit to make both sound and pictures for a film.
- Free zones such as Dubai Media City (DMC), Dubai Production City (DPC), and Dubai Studio City (DSC) are the best places to start your production company.
- Obtain trade name approval from the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET)
- Once you’ve received approval, register your company with the required documents and with the Memorandum of Association (MoA), Articles of Association (AoA), and a power of attorney.
- The license you acquire will contain the types of activities you are permitted to conduct.
- Open a corporate account to stay on top of finances.
