How to Check Your Emirates ID Status
As someone familiar with the complexities of business setup in Dubai, I understand how vital the Emirate ID card is in both professional and personal life in the UAE. The card is not just a mere tool for navigating daily life and business operations.
The Emirates ID card, issued by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, is a legal requirement for UAE residents. The ID assists in accessing government services, managing transactions, and completing official procedures. For those who intend to start a business in the UAE, one of the first steps after obtaining their residency visa is to obtain an Emirates ID.
It is also a gateway to open bank accounts, lease commercial spaces, avail utilities, and secure employment contracts for staff.
At Kiltons Business Setup Services, we help our clients navigate through the process of acquiring Emirates ID to ensure a smooth transition into the UAE's business environment.
Entrepreneurs and investors must obtain an Emirates ID, as it reflects their legal presence and legitimacy in the country. It also increases credibility. The ID acts as an indispensable tool not only for individuals but also for the growth and sustainability of businesses in the UAE.
How to Apply for Emirates ID?
Let’s look at some of the steps to obtain an Emirates ID:
Step 1: Apply for an entry visa
The first step is to acquire an entry permit. The permit allows you to stay in the country for 60 days. There are many visa options available in the UAE that you can avail of to enter the country. UAE nationals do not need to apply for a residency permit.
Step 2: Visit a typing center or apply online.
Go to an EIDA-approved typing center or apply online through the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) website or the ICA UAE application. For online applications, submissions are made through the ICA portal, while the typing center will physically fill out the Emirates ID application form for you.
Step 3: Medical checkup
Once you get your entry permit, you must complete your medical examination. Normally, this will be done at a preventive medicine center, where you'll be tested for common diseases like AIDS, Hepatitis B, and TB.
The following are the estimated medical test charges:
- Normal Medical Test: 322.50 AED
- 48-Hour Medical Test: 432.50 AED
- 24-Hour Medical Test: 532.50 AED
- 4-Hour VIP Medical Test: 752.50 AED
For housemaid visas, the fees are slightly different:
- Normal Medical Test (Housemaid Visa): 372.50 AED
- 48 Hour Medical Test (Housemaid Visa): 482.50 AED
- 24 Hour Medical Test (Housemaid Visa): 582.50 AED
- 4-Hour VIP Medical Test (Housemaid Visa): 802.50 AED
Step 4: Gather the required documents
These are the general documents required for obtaining an Emirates ID:
- Original Passport
- Residence visa stamped in your passport (for ex-pats)
- Family Book (for UAE nationals applying through typing centers or online)
- Proof of residency in the UAE (for GCC nationals)
- A colored passport-sized photograph with a white background
Step 5: Apply for the visa
Next, get your Emirates ID at a Federal Identity and Immigration Authority (FIDA) office. Preventive Medicine Centers are typically close to these offices. Your fingerprints and eye scans will be collected during the application process, and your biometric data will be safely saved so you won't need to return.
